C-Wise Fine Mulches

C-Wise fine mulches are ideal for use both as a fine protective mulch on top of the ground and as a soil improver below the soil surface. Their dual purpose nature provide the flexibility to perform multiple functions with one product. A fine mulch placed on the soil surface can effectively protect the root zone beneath a fruit tree, keeping soil temperature stable and retaining soil moisture, while also improving the soil health and fertility within the soil.

In annual crops, Premium can be incorporated before planting or applied as a top dress treatment to boost productivity and build soil health benefits. Discuss with C-Wise for suggested programs on specific crops.

Professional Landscapers

Premium is an excellent all round soil improver and protective mulch for planting and feeding trees and shrubs as well as growing vegetables, exotic plants and flower beds. For new garden beds, turf and general landscaping, spread a 5-10mm thick layer of Premium across soil surface and incorporate to a depth of 50-100mm, then water thoroughly before planting. For individual plants, shrubs and trees, mix 1 part Premium with 10 parts original soil and use as a planting mix around the root zone and can be used on topsoil as feeding mulch up to 50mm thick. As a potting mix ingredient, blend Premium at up to 15% of soil mix to significantly improve fertility and water holding capacity. For establishment and maintenance of exotic plants, flower beds and vegetable gardens, use Premium throughout garden beds as feeding mulch at a depth of 25-50mm to conserve water, feed plants and suppress weeds.

OSC Maturity 2
Economic source of composted organic matter suitable for effectively building soil carbon.(Click to expand)

C-Wise OSC is an economical source of composted organic matter suitable for improving soil carbon and rehabilitating soil functionality in large scale agricultural, mining and urban landscape projects. OSC is derived from recycled household organic materials that are composted to eliminate plant pathogens and viable seeds, producing large volumes of semi-mature organic carbon suitable for a wide range of applications. OSC is also proven very effective as a fine mulch for conserving water and stimulating growth in tree and vine crops as well as being an excellent compost accelerator for rapidly transforming animal manures into powerful organic fertiliser.OSC

Benefits

• Reduces nutrient leaching in sandy soils.
• Improves soil moisture holding capacity.
• Highly absorbent, holds 170% of its weight in water.
• Contains valuable crop nutrients and trace elements.
• Improves nutrient uptake efficiency.
• Stimulates beneficial soil biology.
• Rapidly improves soil functionality.
• Consistent quality available all year round.
• Easy to transport and handle with a belt spreader.

Application

OSC is suitable for broadcasting by conventional belt spreader in broadacre crops, pastures and inter row applications. When used as mulch, OSC can be spread along planting lines with a side banding spreader or maybe installed below the surface to create a moisture reservoir using specialised trenching equipment available for hire from C-Wise.

Suggested Programs

Crops and Pastures

When planting new crops and pastures, OSC slowly releases plant available nutrients contained in the organic matter. The organic carbon in the product helps improve soil moisture retention and fertiliser use efficiency. For best results, spread at 5-10m3/ha and incorporate before planting or in low tillage systems, apply as a top dressing at 10-20m3/ ha before planting.

Mulching

OSC makes an excellent fine mulch for orchards and vineyards, creating a protective layer on the soil that stabilises soil temperature and increases the active soil volume for feeder root development and storage of moisture and nutrients. This stimulates soil biology and improves the efficiency of drippers and overhead irrigation through the heat of summer. The mulch forms a protective crust that blankets weeds and is resistant to wind and water erosion for up to 2 years or more depending on local conditions. OSC can be side banded under trees and vines in a 50-75mm thick layer and extending 50cm to 1m wide each side of plantings depending on stage of development.

Composting

OSC is a concentrated source of fine organic carbon that’s perfect for on-farm composting of manures, animal mortalities and other organic residues to make organic fertilisers. The organic carbon in OSC is at an advanced stage of decomposition that can accelerate compost maturity with the right balance of nitrogen, air and water to fuel the process. Contact C-Wise for helpful advice on the right process to make your composting operation a success.

Mushroom Maturity 2
Medium maturity product suitable for supplying a balance of slow release nutrients and improving soil health. (Click to expand)

Mushroom is a medium maturity product suitable for supplying a balance of slow release nutrients and improving soil health. Apply to the surface at rates between 1 and 20m3. We generally recommend that our products are not incorporated in broadacre agriculture. The benefits from low tillage farming systems are greater than the small extra benefit achieved by incorporating compost below the soil surface. You may wish to time a compost application to take advantage of a periodic tillage, for example mouldboarding to bury weed seeds and bring clay to the surface.Mushroom

Benefits

• One product to protect the soil and feed plant growth.
• Significantly improves soil water infiltration and storage.
• Creates soil conditions that support vigorous root growth.
• Feeds beneficial soil biology that drives growth and combats disease.
• Improves nutrient availability, significantly reducing fertiliser use.
• Protects soil from wind and water erosion.
• Long life performance, effective for several years.

Application

C-Wise Mushroom can be incorporated into the topsoil to build structure and feed plant growth or top dressed as a weed suppressant, soil feeder and protective mulch. On large scale treatment areas, Mushroom can be broadcast through a conventional belt spreader and incorporated mechanically into the soil before planting. In row crop applications, Mushroom can be precision banded and incorporated direct into the planting row or banded as mulch either side of the planting line. For smaller treatment areas, Mushroom can be manually spread and incorporated into soil or applied as mulch around plants.
